For me, I use the carpet-bomber thunderhead to delete swarms and a six-shooter revolver to snipe spitters or unload the full clip point-blank in a praetorian/dreadnought's butt. Minigun is usually great against single targets, thunderhead is good at swarm-deletion. Usually the grenade best used depends on the kind of guns you are using or what kind of enemy you are "best" using it against, so for instance a minigunner could benefit from an incendiary grenade to get rid of swarmers (which the minigun does not easily handle without excessive ammo use). Clusters are similar to sticky grenades only they are a lot more difficult to control without making digging a trench ahead of time, but they are notably easier to destroy terrain with. Incendiaries are good for deleting swarmers and normal grunts within a confined area (where they cannot easily crawl around the flames). Default sticky grenades are good for (mostly) single-target damage and spooking praetorians, as well as terrain destruction (i.e. Gunner's ziplines work best when descending or suspending in the air. Similarly, a gunner (and his teammates) will have trouble with ziplines if they are being shot at. Driller is still limited by terrain so if you get a drop pod that lands "in the sky" with the ramp on an overhang the driller will usually have a harder time navigating up to it than if the gunner had simply ziplined. If used for progress they also double as landmarks. His utility of ziplines allows the team to use the air to their advantage (provided they do not take damage from shooting/spitting enemies). Gunner being fun is subjective, a lot of people do not enjoy him due to his zipline being a rather limited traversal tool and basic job of "shoot gun, protect team". Driller has a variety of functions varying from swarm-clearing (flamer/subata), crowd-control (cryo cannon) to mining/digging (drill, c4) utilities and god knows what the EPC can't do, so it's hard for me to classify his strengths outside of a per-game basis.
